USTA Tennis Classic Of Troy Is Back!
TROY, Ala. – The USTA Tennis Classic of Troy enters its second decade of existence as the 2011 version is now underway! All matches in the tournament will be held at the Lunsford Tennis Complex in Troy, Alabama beginning at 10:00 a.m. each day. The tournament is more than professionals looking to earn their stripes on the USTA Pro Circuit, it is also a valued member in the community. Each year the tournament actively involves children from Troy and the surrounding communities by bringing them in to watch matches as well as lesson sessions with each child. This is a great tool for the children of the community. It introduces many of them to a sport they have never played, and it also renews a spirit in all of them that they can achieve anything that they put their heart, soul and mind toward. The USTA Tennis Classic of Troy’s commitment to the city is what makes this tournament unique. Players that compete in Troy will tell you that the tournament is more than tennis; it is a week full of Southern Hospitality and an opportunity to change not only their lives, but others too. On behalf of the City of Troy and The Classic, any and all media coverage is graciously appreciated. Daily scores and results will be e-mailed as well as a text release of the day’s action. Attached with this is also the tournament’s schedule of events. The USTA Tennis Classic of Troy wants to spread the message far and wide that this is a community event, and it is very beneficial to the children of the area. Great feature story opportunities are available as well with some of the world’s top up and coming talent. Melanie Oudin used her experience at The Classic to become the world’s youngest major quarterfinalist since Serena Williams when she posted an unprecedented run in the 2009 US Open. The next great tennis story, like hers, could be on the courts this week in The USTA Tennis Classic of Troy.
